Become a Minister

Thinking about becoming an extraordinary minister, lector, altar server, or greeter?

“If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.”

—John 12:26

Ministers like greeters, lectors, extraordinary ministers, altar servers, and choir members truly help us enhance the Young Adult Mass. As a minister, you can help others partake in a more fulfilling worship experience.

Greeters

Have a passion for meeting new people? Got a killer smile? Help Mass attendees begin their worship in a positive way by welcoming them to the church before Mass. Greeters also play an important part during the Mass by acting as ushers during the collection.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Communion

Could there be anything more rewarding or honorable than administering the Body and Blood of Christ to others? With minimal training, confirmed Catholics have the opportunity to be extraordinary ministers of both species of the Eucharist.

Lectors

Bring God’s word to others at Mass by sharing your talents of public speaking, poise, and reverence with others so they may hear and understand the readings more clearly.

Altar Servers

Talk about serving the Lord! An altar server is the priest’s “right hand man” during Mass, aiding him so that the meal will go smoothly. Whether you served as an adolescent or want to learn now, becoming an altar server is a role that serves others and God at the same time.

Choir

Sure, we’ve got pipes (check out our St. John’s pipe organ), but do YOU? Though, we join the choirs of the Angels and Saints every time we celebrate Mass, it’s time to lift your voice to God even further. Join the choir by attending practice at 5:30 p.m. on Sundays, one hour before the Young Adult Mass in the sanctuary by the piano.

Socials Committee

What would Young Adult ministry be without a little fun once in awhile? If you’re great at planning events or coming up with fun and creative group gatherings, join our socials committee, which meets every fourth Sunday of the month to coordinate activities for every second Sunday evening after Mass.
